A local brigade strengthens early response and fire prevention in the Sierra del Carmen
The Maderas del Carmen Museum has taken a key step in its commitment to active conservation by forming a brigade specialized in fighting forest fires, which responded to its first incident on March 4th.
This intervention marked the beginning of a coordinated effort of early detection and immediate response, in collaboration with institutions such as the Coahuila Ministry of the Environment (SMA), the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR), the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP), the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) and El Carmen Natural Reserve.
Beyond acting within the Museum area, the brigade extends its support to neighboring communities and landowners throughout the Sierra del Carmen, establishing itself as a key player in the protection of the regional ecosystem.
Their work is not limited to directly fighting fires. They also carry out essential preventative actions, such as managing forest fuels, thereby reducing the risk of fires and strengthening the resilience of the landscape.
This effort reflects a comprehensive vision of conservation: protecting, preventing, and collaborating. In a region with exceptional biodiversity and increasingly challenging weather conditions, having a trained and active brigade makes a tangible difference for the future of the region.
