As a result of the ongoing monitoring and conservation of biodiversity carried out at the Maderas del Carmen Museum, AC, staff from the Civil Association located and rescued a fledgling golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) within the property, immediately activating the corresponding protocols to guarantee its well-being and conservation.

Following its discovery, an inter-institutional coordination was established between the Maderas del Carmen Museum, AC, the Maderas del Carmen Flora and Fauna Protection Area (APFFMC; CONANP), the Coahuila Government's Ministry of Environment (SMA), the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA) and the Desert Museum (MUDE) with the objective of providing specialized care to the specimen and referring it to an authorized center for its evaluation, rehabilitation and eventual reintegration into its natural habitat.

The collaboration between private initiatives and government institutions demonstrates the importance of working together to conserve wildlife and strengthen protection efforts in one of the most ecologically important regions of North America.

The golden eagle is one of North America's most emblematic birds of prey and a fundamental symbol of Mexican national identity, as it is featured on the National Coat of Arms. In addition to its cultural and historical value, it plays an essential ecological role as an apex predator, contributing to the balance of the ecosystems it inhabits.

In Mexico, the species is listed under the Threatened (A) category according to the Mexican Official Standard NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010, because its populations have experienced a historical decline caused by factors such as habitat loss and fragmentation, prey decrease, electrocution on power lines, direct persecution and other human activities.

The conservation of the golden eagle requires urgent and coordinated measures to protect its nesting sites, maintain the integrity of its habitats, and promote the recovery of its wild populations. Therefore, the rescue and care of this individual represents a valuable opportunity to contribute to national and international conservation efforts for one of the most representative species of Mexico's natural heritage.

The bird's health and progress will be monitored by specialists, with the expectation that, once its rehabilitation process is successfully completed, it can be released back into its natural environment, thus contributing to the permanence of wild golden eagle populations in northern Mexico.
